Description

The title *Prince de Condé* was held by one of the most prominent noble families in France, the House of Bourbon-Condé. The line was founded by Louis I de Bourbon, the first Prince de Condé, born in 1530, who was one of the most important military leaders and politicians of his time. He played a central role in the French Wars of Religion, leading the Huguenots against the Catholic party.

One of the most famous holders of the title was Louis II de Bourbon, also known as the “Great Condé.” Born in 1621, he gained fame through his military successes during the Thirty Years’ War and the Fronde uprisings. He is particularly renowned for his brilliant leadership at the Battle of Rocroi in 1643, which is considered a turning point in the war against Spain. His military prowess made him one of the greatest generals of his time.

The Prince de Condé was not only a military genius but also an influential political figure, often in opposition to the royal house. Despite his rebellion against the crown during the Fronde, he managed to maintain his position at the French court and later became one of the closest advisors to Louis XIV.

The Condé line played a central role in French history for centuries.
